The Lone Star Award is an award that recognizes effective and outstanding school counseling programs in the state of Texas. The Lone Star Award prepares school counselors to apply for the national ASCA RAMP award.

The Lone Star Awards recognizes comprehensive counseling programs that are data-driven, developmentally appropriate, and delivered to all students with the goal of improving student outcomes, closing achievement and opportunity gaps, and preparing students for post-secondary success.

In 2016, the Lone Star State School Counselor Association introduced a dynamic awards system featuring three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each level entails escalating standards intended to propel school counselor programs toward national recognition through the prestigious American School Counselor Association's RAMP award. It's vital to understand that this is a progressive award system, meaning applicants must apply for the award in sequential order.

HOW TO APPLY

The deadline to apply is every September 1.
We have moved the awards to the Schoology Learning Management System (LMS). The State of Texas purchased Schoology for all districts to use, however districts could have chosen not to use Schoology if they were already using another LMS. You may not be aware that your district is using it because LMS’s are generally used by teachers. Please ask your principal if your district is using Schoology. If your district is using it, please find out how you can access your district account.
